Pair of antique Grand Tour obelisks
Product Description
Pair of 19th century bronze Grand Tour obelisks with hieroglyphic inscriptions on all 4 sides, raised on a marble base. The bronze obelisks are of the Luxor obelisk in the Place de la Concorde. The depth and quality of hieroglyphic carving varies on each, with one being deeper and clearer than the other on close inspection. Wonderful diminutive size for a desk or shelf. Sourced in Ireland. 7 inches tall.
Dimensions: Both 7 inches tall. Base 3 inches square.
Condition:Obelisk 1 has well defined carving of the hieroglyphics, and has no condition issues. Obelisk 2 has less detailed carving of the hieroglyphics, and has chips on three of the four corners of the base typical of its age. More photos available on request.
